Dental Health

Dental health is all important. As with all medical conditions, prevention is better than cure. As such we recommend that you start from an early age to look after your puppy or kitten’s teeth. More than three quarters of dogs and cats over three years old have dental disease. This has wide-ranging adverse effects on your pet’s health and well-being and can cause chronic pain.

We encourage you to brush your pets’ teeth daily using a special brush and toothpaste. Do not use human toothpaste as this may cause stomach upset and other problems. There are dental diets available, specifically formulated to clean plaque off the surface of the tooth as the animal bites through the biscuit. These can be used alongside regular brushing and also in pets where regular brushing is difficult.

The nurses provide free of charge oral care clinics. They will be able to advise you on the best options for your pet. If you need assistance with brushing the nurses will also be able to help with this. Please CALL US to make an appointment
